Notes From The Band
"While recording in L.A., I picked a collection of Christmas songs with some being very traditional and others unusual. I took these songs and completely turned them upside down in a way that is pleasantly interesting.
I feel I have a way of being able to take something that is so well known and rework it so it appeals to the rockers, metal heads or real jazz lovers to show them that Christmas music can be really interesting and not the same old, same old. That it can be gorgeous, slamming and twisted.
I loved using my voice and had so much enjoyment really digging into it and using it to the depths of my ability. For instance on "Wonder As I Wander" really playing the jazz singer, on "Fortunate" playing the hip-hop artist, on "Conventry" playing the metal-head and on "Silent Night" playing the role of the grunge bar singer. I had a blast." - Tamara
As the winter chill sets in and traditional holiday preparations begin, singer/songwriter Tamara Cimmerian of the music project KatZen releases her classic holiday album, Fortunate with bonus tracks. The fully remastered collection features three new remixes by world renowned DJ Kazel. The ground breaking album, Fortunate also includes the brand new dance single, “Snowdrifter” that is also produced by DJ Kazel.
Fortunate puts a progressive spin on holiday music utilizing rock, metal, EDM and jazz elements. DJ Kazel has created avant-garde remixes that combine Tamara’s one-of-a-kind vocals performances with electro-dance rhythms. Fortunate includes innovative takes on traditional songs such as “Silent Night,” “ What Child Is This,” and “Wonder As I Wander” with original arrangements and diverse chord changes that create a new experience for fans.
The album gives you 9 holiday songs (Angels, Away in a Manger, Coventry, Wonder as I Wander, Immanuel, What Child, Mary, Silent Night and Auld Lang Syne) re-envisioned as a combination of rock, electronic, jazz and metal influences in progressive and exhilarating sound relevant for our times.
The original composition "Fortunate" speaks to the current condition of continually searching for more without taking a moment to appreciate the gifts around us. The lyrics inspire to appreciate the people and things around us and to look inward, rather than outward for satisfaction.
"Fortunate" makes a great gift or is the perfect addition to your KatZen collection for that rockin' holiday party with the coolest music this season.

Angels we have heard on high.sweetly singing over the plains and the mountains in reply, echoing their joyous strains. CHORUS: Gloria! In Excelsis Deo! Gloria! In Excelsis Deo! Shepherds, Why this jubilee? Come to Bethlehem and see: Him whose Birth the angels sing. Christ the lord the new born King! CHORUS.
MANGER
Away in a manger,/ no crib for a bed,/ the little lord Jesus/ lay down his sweet head./ The stars in the sky/ look down where he lay./ The little Lord Jesus/ asleep in the hay./ The cattle are lowing,/ the poor Babe awakes./ The little Lord Jesus,/ no crying he makes./ I love the Lord Jesus./ Look down from the sky,/ and stay by my cradle/’til morning is nigh./ Be near me, Lord Jesus,/ I ask thee to stay/ close by me forever,/ and love me, I pray. Bless all the dear children/ in thy tender care,/ and take us to heaven/ to live with Thee there.
COVENTRY
Chorus: Lullay, thou little tiny child/ By by, lully, lullay /Lullay, thou little tiny child /By, by, lully, lullay/.O sisters two how may we do, / For to preserve this day?/ This poor youngling/ For whom we do sing,/ “By, by lully,” lullay./ CHORUS/ Herod the king in his raging, Charged he hath this day./ His men of might in his own sight,/ All young children to slay/ CHORUS/ That woe is me./ Poor child for thee,/ And ever morn and day./ For thy parting/ Neither say nor sing,/ “by, by, lully, lullay.”/ CHORUS
WONDER AS I WANDER
I wonder as I wander out under the sky how Jesus the Savior did come for to die. For poor ornery people like you and like I, I wonder as I wander, out under the sky. When Mary birthed Jesus, ‘twas in a cow’s stall with wise men and farmers and shepherds and all, but high from God’s Heaven a star’s light did fall and the promise of ages, it then did recall: If Jesus had wanted for any wee thing: a star in the sky or a bird on the wing. Or, all of God’s Angels in Heaven for to sing, he surely could have had it, ‘cause he was the KING. I wonder as I wander out under the sky how Jesus the Savior did come for to die For poor ornery people like you and like I, I wonder as I wander, out under the sky.
IMMANUEL
O come, O come Immanuel, and ransom captive Israel, which mourns in lowly exile here, until the son of God appear. CHORUS: Rejoice, Rejoice, Immanuel, Shall come to thee, O Israel. O come, thou wisdom, from on high, and rescue things far and night. To us the path of knowledge show and cause us in her way to go. CHORUS. O come desire of nations bind all people in one heart and mind. Bid envy, strife, and quarrels, cease. Fill the whole world with Heaven’s peace. CHORUS.
WHAT CHILD
What Child is this who,/ laid to rest,/ on Mary’s lap is sleeping?/ Whom angels greet with anthems sweet/ while shepherds watch are keeping?/ This,/ this is Christ the King/ whom shepherds guard/ and angels sing./ Haste,/ haste to bring him laud ,the baby,/ the son of Mary./ So lies he in such mean estate where ox and donkey are feeding. Come, fellow, fear,/ for sinners here,/ the silent word is repeating./ This,/ This is Christ the King/ whom shepherds guard/ and angels sing./ Haste,/ haste to bring him laud ,the Baby,/ the son of Mary.
MARY
Mary had a baby my Lord. What did She call him my Lord? She Called him King Jesus, My Lord.
FORTUNATE - An original composition by Tamara B. Cimmerian, Copyright 2009 Twin Flame Laments, BMI all rights reserved
Not everyone is as fortunate at xmas time as you and I --Not everyone is as content during the holiday times. ---Not everyone. ---Not all of us. ---Not everyone. ---Not all of us.---Let’s send a blessing out to those who have less.—Let’s send a prayer out to those who are sad.---CHORUS: It doesn’t take a lot. ---It just takes a little. ---Big things come in small parcels. ---Like a tiny baby born in a stable, ---Like a little drop of oil that burns eight days more. ---Gotta stick together, give what you can. ---gotta live together under god’s master plan. ---Be tolerant, ---Compassionate, and ---be there for your brothers with open hands .---Be fortunate for what you have. ---Never take for granted what you have.
SILENT
Silent night,/ holy night,/ all is calm all is bright;/ round yon Virgin mother and child./ Holy Infant so tender and mild,/ Sleep in heavenly peace,/ sleep in heavenly peace./ Silent night,/ holy night,/ shepherds quake/ at the sight;/ glories stream from heavens afar,/ heavenly hosts sing Alleluia!/ Christ the Savior is born,/ Christ the Savior is born!/ Silent night,/ holy night,/ Son of God loves pure light;/ radiant beams from thy holy face with the dawn of redeeming grace,/ Jesus, Lord,/ Jesus, Lord at thy birth./
AULD LANG SYNE (BONUS)
Should Auld acquaintance be forgot, and never brought to mind?/ Should Auld acquaintance be forgot/ and days of Auld Lang Syne?/ For Auld Lang Syne,/ my dear,/ for Auld Lang Syne./ We’ll take a cup of kindness for Auld Lang Syne./
